CASSAVA TECHNOLOGIES WINS TOP PAN-AFRICAN HONOUR FOR DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE AND AI LEADERSHIP
Cassava Technologies has been awarded a major Pan-African honour for its outstanding leadership in digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence across the continent.
The company received the prestigious award at the Africa Tech Summit in Nairobi on Thursday, in recognition of its massive investments in fibre optic networks, data centres, cloud computing, and AI solutions that are accelerating Africa’s digital transformation.
Cassava Technologies, founded by Nigerian billionaire Strive Masiyiwa, has rapidly become one of the largest homegrown digital infrastructure providers in Africa. The company operates extensive fibre networks across several countries and is building advanced data centres and AI capabilities to support governments, businesses, and citizens.
The award highlighted Cassava’s commitment to not just expanding connectivity, but also developing local talent and creating homegrown technology solutions. The company has trained thousands of young Africans in AI, cloud engineering, and cybersecurity, helping to build a skilled digital workforce for the continent.
Strive Masiyiwa’s vision of creating a fully integrated African digital ecosystem has been widely praised. Cassava’s projects are helping to bridge the digital divide, especially in underserved regions, and supporting key sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, and fintech.
Receiving the award, a senior executive at Cassava Technologies described it as a recognition of the hard work of its teams across Africa and a motivation to do even more. “Africa’s future will be built on digital infrastructure and responsible AI. We are proud to be playing our part,” he said.
This honour comes as many African governments increase focus on digital economy development under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Experts believe companies like Cassava Technologies are critical to realising the continent’s digital ambitions.
The award further strengthens Cassava Technologies’ position as a leader in Africa’s tech space and is expected to attract more partnerships and investments in the coming months.
