CATEREFE OPENS UP ON WHY HE STOPPED GOING TO CHURCH
Popular streamer Caterefe has opened up about how advice from skit maker Sidney Talker influenced his decision to stop going to church.
In a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, Caterefe revealed that he used to be a regular churchgoer until he received guidance from Sidney, whom he admired as a devout Christian. The advice, however, contradicted his expectations and left a lasting impact on him.
Caterefe explained that Sidney had advised him to quit streaming and also suggested he part ways with his streaming partner, Kolu, for just one million naira.
“I used to attend church regularly, but I stopped because I noticed that some churchgoers can be very malicious,” Caterefe said. “Sidney Talker goes to church consistently, yet he advised me to quit streaming. I saw that as harmful advice. He even told me to discharge Kolu for a million naira, but I refused. That’s when I decided to make Kolu my best friend. Sidney said I should let him go because his former boss, Portable, has juju and could harm me.
“I was surprised because Sidney is consistent in church. Why would he be afraid of juju? I was beginning to gain traction in streaming when he told me to stop—it felt malicious to me,” he added.
Caterefe also shared that before he began streaming, he struggled with depression for months, feeling pressured as skit making was losing popularity. He revealed that streaming helped him overcome those challenging months and regain a sense of purpose.
