The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has launched an international manhunt for the operators of collapsed cryptocurrency platform CBEX, working closely with INTERPOL to track the suspects allegedly responsible for absconding with over ₦1.3 billion of investors' funds.

According to spokesperson Adele Oyewale confirmed, “We are actively working to handle the CBEX situation. We will collaborate with other regulatory agencies to ensure that Nigerians are protected from this kind of scheme.”

Nigerians have been lamenting on social media since the platform crashed.

“We are on the local collaborators while we are partnering with INTERPOL to trace the foreign operators. Where recovery is possible, we will recover; where prosecution is possible, we will prosecute,” Oyewole added.

Frustrated investors reportedly ransacked CBEX's abandoned Lagos headquarters, removing office equipment and furniture, as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) confirmed its international pursuit of both Nigerian and foreign suspects connected to the alleged ₦1.3 billion fraud.

Oyewale also issued a strong caution to Nigerian investors following the CBEX collapse, urging enhanced due diligence before engaging with financial platforms.

At the moment, the EFCC is yet to inform the public of any arrests or funds recovery.
