CBN ADJUSTS MONETARY STRATEGY AMID RISING GLOBAL ECONOMIC UNCERTAINTY
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) says growing global economic tensions are playing a key role in shaping its monetary policy decisions as it works to maintain price stability and protect the country's financial system.
The apex bank noted that geopolitical conflicts, shifting trade policies, inflationary pressures, and fluctuations in global commodity prices continue to influence economic conditions worldwide. These developments, it said, require careful policy measures to safeguard Nigeria's economy from external shocks.
According to the CBN, its monetary decisions remain focused on controlling inflation, stabilizing the exchange rate, and supporting sustainable economic growth. The bank added that it will continue to monitor both domestic and international developments before making further policy adjustments.
Economists say global uncertainties have increased pressure on emerging markets, making prudent monetary management essential to maintaining investor confidence and financial stability.
The CBN reaffirmed its commitment to implementing data-driven policies that respond to evolving economic realities while ensuring a resilient financial system capable of withstanding external challenges and supporting Nigeria's long-term economic development.
