The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has donated an FM-200 fire suppression system to the Federal Fire Service, Kwara State Command, to strengthen emergency response capacity and protect critical infrastructure across the state.

The donation was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Modibbo Ibrahim.

The equipment was formally handed over during an official visit by the Kwara State Controller of the Federal Fire Service, ACF Bakare Mary, who led a delegation of senior officers to the CBN branch in Ilorin.

During the visit, the CBN branch management led by Branch Manager Aliyu Muhammed Manga described the donation as a reflection of the bank’s commitment to supporting the operational effectiveness of the fire service.

According to him, the gesture is aimed at improving service delivery in the protection of lives and property.

Receiving the equipment on behalf of the Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service, the State Controller commended the initiative, describing it as timely and strategic in boosting emergency response efforts in Kwara State.

She said the system would greatly enhance operational efficiency and strengthen public safety management in the state.

The event ended with the formal handover of the equipment, symbolising growing collaboration between public institutions for disaster risk reduction and improved emergency services.

The FM-200 fire suppression system is a clean-agent technology that rapidly extinguishes fires without damaging sensitive equipment or leaving residue. It is commonly used in facilities such as data centres, control rooms, banks, and other high-value environments.
