CBN Reschedules Monetary Policy Committee Meeting Amid Inflation Concerns

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has rescheduled its 299th Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting, shifting the dates from February 17–18, 2025, to February 19–20, 2025.

In a statement released on Monday, the apex bank confirmed the new dates, putting an end to speculation caused by delays in the release of the rebased Consumer Price Index (CPI) by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

"The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced that the 299th meeting of its Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), earlier scheduled for February 17 and 18, 2025, will now be held on Wednesday, February 19 and Thursday, February 20, 2025," the statement read.

With the new date set, financial analysts and market stakeholders are now focused on the CBN’s next move regarding the Monetary Policy Rate (MPR). Amid rising inflation and economic volatility, there is growing anticipation over whether the committee will maintain the rate or implement a hike to curb inflationary pressures.

The MPC meeting remains a crucial event shaping Nigeria’s economic direction, influencing key decisions on interest rates, inflation control, and macroeconomic stability.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
