CDS SEEKS CIVILIAN SUPPORT, INTELLIGENCE SHARING TO TACKLE TERRORISM
Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has called on civilians and communities to support the armed forces with information that could help tackle terrorism.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Chief of Naval Staff’s annual retreat in Abuja on Tuesday, Oluyede said improving security required cooperation between military services, other agencies and the public.
“No single service can do the job alone. It requires a collective effort,” he said.
He explained that effective cooperation must extend beyond security institutions to include communities, whose knowledge could help identify threats.
“If you see anything, you should tell us because everything we’re doing relies on intelligence, and for that, we need community support,” he added.
Oluyede said the armed forces were working together to make Nigeria safer and appealed for continued public support and prayers.
He expressed confidence that sustained collaboration would improve security and help the country move forward.
