Champion Breweries Plc has announced that Malolan Sampath has officially assumed office as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective September 1, 2026.

The brewer said the leadership change is part of its broader transition strategy as the company moves into a new phase of growth and operational development.

Sampath brings more than 26 years of experience across the beverage, fast-moving consumer goods, manufacturing and agro-industrial sectors. His previous roles include Managing Director of Unique Beverages in Angola, Sales and Marketing Director for a PepsiCo bottling franchise and Chief Executive Officer of Global Industries Limited, a Wilmar International joint venture in Zambia.

Before joining Champion Breweries, he served as Managing Director of the NPK Joint Venture and Chief Marketing Officer at Indorama Eleme Fertilizers in Nigeria.

The company’s board expressed confidence that his experience in manufacturing, commercial execution and business transformation would help strengthen Champion Breweries’ market position and create long-term value for shareholders.

Sampath takes over at a time when the brewing industry is dealing with rising input costs, currency pressures and other economic challenges.

The board also commended Rasheed Adebiyi, the company’s Executive Director of Finance, for overseeing operations as Acting Managing Director during the transition.

The new CEO is expected to lead the company’s next phase of growth, with a focus on improving operations, strengthening its market presence and driving commercial performance.
