CHAN 2024: CONGO COACH SAYS NIGERIA WILL BE TOUGH OPPONENT
Congo’s head coach, Barthélémy Ngatsono, has urged his players to deliver their best performance as they prepare to face Nigeria in a decisive group stage match at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Ngatsono’s team is still in search of their first victory in the tournament. With two points from as many games, they currently sit second in Group D and must defeat Nigeria to secure a spot in the quarter-finals.
Despite being out of contention for qualification after failing to win either of their opening matches, the Nigerian side—nicknamed the Home Eagles—will be eager to restore pride in their final group outing.
“We respect Nigeria, but they are like a wounded lion. They will come out fighting with pride, so we must remain sharp and fully focused,” Ngatsono said in a statement to CAFonline.
The crucial match is scheduled to take place on Tuesday at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
