CHARLY BOY SAYS HIS DAUGHTERS DON’T NEED HIS APPROVAL

Veteran entertainer and social commentator Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has said his two daughters do not need his approval to live their lives as lesbians.

Speaking in an interview with Saturday Beats, Charly Boy said he accepted his daughters’ decisions because his main concern was their happiness.

He revealed that his younger daughter came out as a lesbian several years ago, while his older daughter did so more recently. He admitted that the news was initially difficult for him to accept but said he eventually adapted to the situation.

Charly Boy said parents cannot control the lives of their adult children and that he would rather maintain a loving relationship with his daughters than quarrel with them over their personal choices.

He explained that his approach to parenting has changed, particularly with younger generations. According to him, parents should advise their children and allow them to make their own decisions rather than relying on commands or physical punishment.

The entertainer also said he sometimes wished his younger daughter had had children before identifying as a lesbian, but maintained that her happiness remained his priority.

Charly Boy further spoke about his relationship with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, describing him as both a friend and a father figure.

He said the relationship developed naturally and that the two sometimes spend several hours discussing topics including religion and life. Charly Boy added that he speaks with Obasanjo regularly and often seeks his advice when trying to resolve personal issues.
