Chelsea Finalise Transfers for Ugochukwu and Guiu

Chelsea Football Club has confirmed transfer moves for two of its players, Lesley Ugochukwu and Marc Guiu, as the club continues to reshape its squad ahead of the new season.

In separate statements released on Wednesday, the Premier League side announced that Lesley Ugochukwu has completed a permanent transfer to Burnley. At the same time, Marc Guiu has joined Sunderland on a season-long loan.

Ugochukwu, a 20-year-old French midfielder, joined Chelsea from Rennes two years ago and made 15 appearances in his debut season with the Blues. Last season, he spent time on loan at Southampton, gaining more experience in English football. His move to Burnley now offers him a fresh opportunity to establish himself in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, 19-year-old striker Marc Guiu, who signed from Barcelona last season, will spend the 2025/26 campaign at newly-promoted Sunderland. Guiu made 16 appearances for Chelsea, scoring six goals, including key performances in the Conference League, which Chelsea eventually won. He also featured in the FIFA Club World Cup, where Chelsea were crowned champions after defeating Paris Saint-Germain in the final.

The double transfer comes just days after Chelsea also confirmed the exits of Mamadou Sarr and Leo Castledine, indicating an active summer window for the club.

Fans will be watching closely as these young talents look to continue their development and possibly return stronger in future seasons.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
