CHELSEA CROWNED CLUB WORLD CHAMPIONS AFTER 3-0 WIN OVER PSG IN FINAL
Chelsea will don a prestigious gold badge on their kit for the next four years following a commanding 3-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup final on Sunday.
Cole Palmer starred in the match, netting two goals within the first 30 minutes to give the Blues a strong lead. He later turned provider, assisting Joao Pedro who finished with a deft chip over PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
In addition to securing the newly-designed trophy and a £100 million prize, Chelsea have earned the right to wear an exclusive badge of honour—an emblem traditionally reserved for Club World Cup champions.
Previously, the gold badge was worn for just one year by the title holders. However, under FIFA’s revamped tournament structure, now held every four years under president Gianni Infantino’s direction, Chelsea will retain the badge for the full cycle.
This marks a shift in policy from 2019, when Liverpool were permitted to wear the badge for only one Premier League match after their Club World Cup triumph. Chelsea, however, will face no such restriction.
