CHELSEA DEFENDER LEVI COLWILL OUT AFTER KNEE SURGERY
Chelsea have been dealt another injury setback just days before their pre-season clash with Bayer Leverkusen, as young defender Levi Colwill has been ruled out following knee surgery.
The club confirmed on Thursday that the 22-year-old underwent a successful operation to repair an anterior cruciate ligament injury. Colwill had only just returned to Cobham earlier this week for pre-season training when the unfortunate incident occurred.
Medical checks determined that surgery was the best option, and the procedure has now been completed. The England international will begin his rehabilitation immediately, working closely with Chelsea’s medical team at Cobham.
With the Premier League season fast approaching, Colwill’s absence is a blow for Mauricio Pochettino’s plans — but the Blues will be hoping for a smooth and speedy recovery for their talented centre-back.
