CHRIS BROWN REMANDED IN UK OVER ALLEGED NIGHTCLUB ASSAULT, CASE MOVED TO CROWN COURT
R&B star faces grievous bodily harm charge after alleged bottle attack on music executive
American singer Chris Brown has been remanded in custody by a Manchester Magistrates’ Court following his arrest in connection with an alleged assault at a London nightclub.
Brown, 35, was taken into custody on Thursday at The Lowry Hotel in Salford. He is accused of attacking music executive Abe Diaw with a glass bottle during an incident at Tape nightclub in Mayfair in 2023.
During his court appearance on Friday, Justice Joanne Hirst denied bail, citing the seriousness of the charge. The judge stated that the case falls outside the scope of the Magistrates’ Court and ordered it to be transferred to Southwark Crown Court in London.
The next hearing is scheduled for June 13, 2025.
Diaw has also filed a $16 million civil lawsuit against the artist, seeking compensation for injuries and financial losses he claims resulted from the incident.
Brown has not yet commented publicly on the charges. The case has drawn significant attention given the artist’s high profile and the gravity of the allegations.
