CIA DIRECTOR VISITS MOSCOW TO WARN RUSSIA AGAINST NATO ATTACK, US MEDIA REPORTS

CIA Director John Ratcliffe reportedly made a rare visit to Moscow to warn Russian officials against launching an attack on NATO member states amid growing concerns about possible escalation in Europe.

US media reported that Ratcliffe delivered the warning during meetings with Russian intelligence officials, following intelligence assessments suggesting that Russia could attempt actions aimed at testing NATO’s unity.

The Kremlin confirmed that the CIA director held talks with Russian intelligence officials during his visit but said he did not meet President Vladimir Putin.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Putin was briefed on the outcome of the discussions.

The purpose of Ratcliffe’s trip was not immediately disclosed by US authorities. However, reports by American media said the visit was intended to communicate Washington’s concerns about the possibility of Russian actions against NATO countries.

The visit marked Ratcliffe’s first publicly known trip to Russia as CIA director and the first known visit to Moscow by a CIA chief since 2021.

President Donald Trump described the trip as “semi-routine” and played down reports linking the visit directly to concerns about a possible Russian attack on NATO.

The discussions come as relations between Washington and Moscow remain strained over the war in Ukraine and wider geopolitical tensions.

US officials and their European allies have continued to closely monitor Russia’s military activities amid concerns about the security of NATO member states, particularly countries in Eastern Europe.

The CIA director’s visit highlights the continued use of intelligence and diplomatic channels to manage tensions and prevent further escalation between Russia and Western countries.
