Members of the Cross River State House of Assembly have expressed sadness over the death of the state’s Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, describing the deceased as a dedicated public servant whose contributions to the state would be remembered.

The lawmakers conveyed their condolences following the commissioner’s death, extending sympathies to the family, colleagues and associates of the deceased. They said the loss was particularly painful because of the role the commissioner played in the state administration and efforts to improve electricity supply and power infrastructure.

The lawmakers noted that the commissioner contributed to the government’s efforts in the power sector and supported initiatives aimed at expanding access to electricity across Cross River. They described the deceased as someone who served the state with commitment and urged the family to find strength during the difficult period.

The Assembly also commiserated with Governor Bassey Otu and members of the state executive council over the loss. The lawmakers acknowledged the impact the death would have on the government and the commissioner’s colleagues, while praying for comfort for everyone affected by the tragedy.

The lawmakers said the best way to honour the memory of the late commissioner would be to sustain the development efforts he supported while in office. They expressed hope that his contributions to Cross River’s power sector and public service would continue to be remembered by the people of the state.
