CSOS SEEK TRANSPARENCY OVER N10.45TN FAAC DISBURSEMENTS

Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) have called for greater transparency and accountability in the disbursement of N10.45 trillion from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) to federal, state, and local governments in the first half of 2026.

In a joint statement issued on Monday, the groups expressed concern over the lack of detailed public information on how the funds were utilised, particularly at the state and local levels. “Nigerians deserve to know how their resources are being spent. Transparency is key to good governance and reducing corruption,” the statement read.

The CSOs urged the Federal Government and state governors to publish comprehensive breakdown of allocations, projects funded, and impact assessments. They also called for strengthened oversight mechanisms and citizen engagement in budget tracking.

FAAC disbursements have risen significantly due to improved oil revenues and other inflows, yet many citizens continue to lament poor infrastructure and service delivery. The groups warned that without accountability, the increased revenue may not translate into tangible development outcomes.

The appeal has been endorsed by several prominent advocacy organisations pushing for fiscal responsibility and open government practices in Nigeria.
