CYRIEL DESSERS WINS 2024/25 SCOTTISH PREMIERSHIP GOLDEN BOOT
Rangers forward Cyriel Dessers has been crowned the top scorer of the 2024/25 Scottish Premiership season, claiming the Golden Boot with 18 goals in 35 league appearances.
The Nigerian international sealed the award after scoring in Rangers’ 2-2 draw against Hibernian at Easter Road on Saturday — his final goal of the season and a decisive one in the Golden Boot race.
Dessers edged out strong competition from Dundee United’s Simon Murray and Celtic’s Daizen Maeda, who both finished with 16 goals. Last season’s winner, Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland, was also in the running but fell short of repeating his scoring success.
This achievement marks a major milestone for the 30-year-old, who joined Rangers in 2023. He becomes the first Rangers player to win the Golden Boot since Alfredo Morelos, breaking a multi-year drought for the club.
Dessers’ consistency and sharp finishing have earned him praise throughout the campaign. Beyond the goals, he has been instrumental in Rangers' attacking play, contributing leadership and experience during key moments of the season.
His success not only highlights his individual talent but also reflects the attacking strength Rangers have cultivated under their current setup. Dessers’ Golden Boot win is expected to inspire the Ibrox faithful as the club looks ahead to future domestic and European challenges.
