Daily Times Nigeria will officially celebrate its 100th anniversary on November 3 in Lagos by honouring 100 distinguished Nigerian individuals and corporate institutions whose contributions have shaped the country's socio-economic and political development.
The centenary celebration, themed “Honouring the Past. Shaping the Future,” will feature a multi-tiered event including a policy town hall, an archival exhibition, and the presentation of the DTN@100 Times Heroes Awards. As part of the milestone activities, organizers will formally launch the Nigerian Grand Book, a commemorative historical publication featuring a foreword written by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Each award recipient will be profiled in a dedicated chapter designed to preserve their legacy for future generations.
Among the prominent leaders and institutions named to receive the Changemaker and Trailblazer awards are Nova Commercial Bank Chairman Phillips Oduoza, advertising doyen Dr. Biodun Shobanjo, Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) Executive Chairman Dr. Ayodele Subair, Lee Engineering Founder Chief Leemon Ikpea, Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy Minister Hannatu Musawa. High-profile traditional rulers, including the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, are also participating in the centenary initiative.
Group Chairman of Folio Media Group and Publisher of Daily Times, Mr. Fidelis Anosike, stated that the centenary program goes beyond commemorating the publication's founding in 1926. He emphasized that the initiative aims to safeguard national memory, support educational programs for visiting schoolchildren through archival exhibitions, and foster high-level policy discussions on leadership and nation-building.
