DANGOTE FILES CORRUPTION PETITION AGAINST EX-NMDPRA BOSS FAROUK AHMED AT EFCC
Billionaire industrialist Aliko Dangote has submitted a formal corruption petition to the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against the former Managing Director of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Farouk Ahmed.
The development was confirmed in a statement released on Friday by the media team of the Dangote Group.
Dangote had previously petitioned the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), urging it to investigate Ahmed over allegations that he spent about $5 million on his children’s secondary education in Switzerland.
However, the petition was withdrawn a few days later, despite the ICPC’s insistence that it would proceed with its investigation.
According to the statement, the decision to approach the EFCC followed the withdrawal of the earlier petition from the ICPC and was described as a strategic move aimed at expediting the prosecution process.
