DANGOTE RAISES PETROL PRICE BY N75, TO N1,275 PER LITRE
The Dangote Refinery has increased its ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit by N75 per litre, raising fresh concerns over another round of fuel price increases across Nigeria.
The refinery also reportedly suspended product sales following a disruption in its Proforma Invoice process.
Price data obtained on Wednesday showed that Dangote raised its petrol loading price from N1,200 per litre to N1,275 per litre.
Coastal supply prices were also increased to N1,215 per litre.
A refinery official confirmed the development.
“Yes, the increase of PMS to N1,275 per litre is true. Coastal price is N1,215,” the source said.
Another source familiar with the matter disclosed that the refinery halted its Proforma Invoice entry process at about 4:00 pm on Tuesday.
The move reportedly disrupted normal supply scheduling across its loading system.
According to the source, the suspension immediately affected the sale of petrol and Automotive Gas Oil.
The development has triggered concern among traders and marketers, many of whom now expect higher depot prices and a possible rise in pump prices nationwide.
Industry operators noted that such supply disruptions often lead to higher logistics and distribution costs, adding further pressure to fuel prices across the value chain.
The latest increase comes amid rising global crude oil prices, which have pushed up feedstock costs for refiners.
As of 10:35 am WAT, Brent crude was trading at $114.80 per barrel, representing a 3.15 per cent increase, while West Texas Intermediate stood at $103.40 per barrel, up by 3.49 per cent.
The surge in international oil prices has been linked to growing geopolitical tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, a major global oil supply route.
The rise in crude prices is expected to increase replacement costs for refiners, forcing upward adjustments in refined petroleum product prices.
