DANGOTE REFINERY ROLLS OUT CNG TRUCKS FOR NATIONWIDE FUEL SUPPLY FROM AUGUST 15
Fuel Distribution Set for Big Change as Dangote Refinery Deploys CNG Trucks
The Dangote Refinery has received its first batch of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) trucks to kick off nationwide supply of petrol (PMS) and diesel (AGO) starting August 15, 2025.
Announcing the development on Sunday, the refinery’s spokesperson, Anthony Chijiena, said the move is part of a ₦720 billion investment plan aimed at transforming Nigeria’s fuel distribution network.
The initiative, according to the company, will cut logistics costs and improve supply efficiency for consumers across the country.
The first shipment of trucks arrived through Apapa Port and was officially received at the refinery’s Ibeju-Lekki site by Devakumar Edwin, Vice-President of Oil and Gas at Dangote Industries Ltd.
This bold move by Africa’s largest refinery is expected to shake up the downstream oil and gas sector. However, some industry stakeholders, including petrol station owners and the Natural Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, have expressed concerns, warning that the new system could lead to widespread job losses in the sector.
With operations set to begin in a matter of days, all eyes are on the Dangote Refinery as it gears up to redefine how fuel gets to every corner of Nigeria.
