DANGOTE REFINERY TO BOOST DOMESTIC PETROL SUPPLY TO 50 MILLION LITERS
Dangote Refinery has announced plans to supply 50 million liters of petrol per day (1.5 billion liters monthly) between December 2025 and January 2026.
The disclosure came over the weekend in a notice to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), signed by the refinery’s CEO, David Bird.
In October 2025, NMDPRA reported that Dangote Refinery contributed only 34.15 percent of Nigeria’s daily petrol consumption of 56.7 million liters, contrary to the 45 million liters per day previously claimed by the company.
Responding, the 650,000-barrel-per-day refinery pledged to scale up its domestic supply capacity to reduce dependence on petrol imports.
The company also said it would further raise its petrol output to 1.7 billion liters per month (57 million liters per day) from February 2026 onwards.
Dangote Refinery requested support from NMDPRA to facilitate the import of crude feedstocks and blending components without restrictions.
“We are writing to confirm our commitment to supplying Nigerian domestic PMS requirements. Dangote Refinery is ready and able to supply 1.5 billion liters of PMS per month (50 million liters per day) in December and January, followed by 1.7 billion liters per month (57 million liters per day) from February 2026 onwards.
“We seek your support to host NMDPRA officials onsite at our refinery from 1st December to validate and publish our supply volumes. In the spirit of full transparency, we are willing to publish our production and stock volumes via online and print media,” the notice stated.
