In what could be described as a game-changing move for Nigeria’s energy and logistics sectors, Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a bold initiative to begin the nationwide distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and diesel from August 15, 2025 — and they’re doing it in grand style.

The company revealed it has deployed 4,000 brand-new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tankers to kick off this massive fuel distribution program, a development expected to drastically improve fuel access, cut logistics costs, and support sustainable energy delivery across the country.

Fuel to Reach Everyone — With Free Logistics

According to a statement made available to The Nation, the refinery’s new scheme isn’t just about supplying fuel — it’s about changing how fuel gets to Nigerians.

The refinery will begin direct distribution of fuel products to marketers, petrol dealers, manufacturers, telecom firms, aviation operators, and other major users, offering free transportation of products. Yes, you read that right — free logistics.

This means that businesses and petrol stations purchasing directly from Dangote Refinery will enjoy significant cost savings on fuel transportation, with ripple effects expected to drive down costs of goods and services across Nigeria.

Powering the Future with CNG

To ensure a seamless rollout, Dangote Refinery has also invested in over 100 CNG-powered daughter booster stations nationwide — a move that solidifies its commitment to cleaner energy and reduced carbon emissions.

These stations, supported by the fleet of 4,000 CNG tankers, are part of a long-term strategy to promote sustainable energy distribution across Nigeria’s cities, towns, and hard-to-reach rural communities.

More Than Fuel — A Full Economic Boost

The initiative is not just about fuel, says Dangote Refinery. It’s part of a broader commitment to support national economic growth through:

Job creation by revitalising inactive petrol stations

Boosting SMEs through affordable fuel supply

Reducing inflation by lowering production costs for businesses

Improving investor confidence in the downstream petroleum industry

Promoting equitable fuel access across underserved areas

In a groundbreaking move, the company also announced a credit facility for buyers: those who purchase a minimum of 500,000 litres of fuel will be eligible to get another 500,000 litres on credit for two weeks, backed by a bank guarantee.

Aligned With the Renewed Hope Agenda

The statement tied the entire initiative to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that the Dangote Refinery’s programme is in direct alignment with the federal government’s bold economic reforms.

“The support of the Federal Government, particularly through the Naira-for-Crude scheme, has been instrumental in stabilising fuel supply despite global price volatility,” the statement read.

Calling it a “major revolution in Nigeria’s midstream and downstream petroleum sectors,” the company expressed confidence that the initiative will not only enhance energy access but also uplift millions of Nigerians.

With the deployment of thousands of eco-friendly tankers, fuel supply credit options, and the promise of a nationwide logistics network, Dangote Petroleum Refinery isn’t just moving fuel — it’s moving the economy.

This is one fuel revolution you’ll definitely want to keep an eye on.
