DANGOTE WARNS TRUCK DRIVERS AGAINST ILLEGAL USE OF COMPANY LOGO, THREATENS LEGAL ACTION
Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has issued a stern warning to truck operators across Nigeria over the unauthorised use of its logo.
The company expressed concern that despite repeated notices, some truck drivers with no affiliation to Dangote continue to brand their vehicles with its identity for personal or undisclosed reasons.
According to the company, this has not only caused reputational damage but also led to embarrassing situations where vehicles falsely linked to Dangote were involved in road accidents and even criminal activities.
“We have repeatedly cautioned truckers to refrain from using our logo on unauthorised vehicles. Moving forward, we will increase vigilance and take decisive legal action against misuse of our brand identity,” the company stated.
Dangote also criticised the spread of misinformation in the media, where accidents are often automatically linked to its fleet without verification. The company described such practices as attempts to exploit tragic situations for “malicious or financial gain.”
As Africa’s largest operator of commercial trucks, Dangote revealed that it manages over 12,000 trucks in Nigeria, with more than 6,000 trucks deployed daily and around 36,000 jobs created nationwide.
To ensure accountability and safety, the company said it works closely with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other regulators to monitor and improve operations, adding that internal audits and global best practices are continuously applied.
Reiterating its zero-tolerance stance, Dangote vowed to intensify monitoring with law enforcement agencies and take strict legal action against offenders.
