Despite facing backlash from authorities, Davido took to X to commend VeryDarkMan for the positive impact he has made in the lives of everyday Nigerians.

David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has voiced his support for online activist Martins Vincent Otse, also called VeryDarkMan, urging his release following his recent arrest.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) apprehended the activist on Friday, sparking widespread debate and mixed reactions across social media platforms in Nigeria.

Although the EFCC has yet to disclose the reasons behind the arrest, Davido has spoken out, advocating for the activist’s freedom.

Sharing his thoughts on X, the singer praised VeryDarkMan for his efforts in positively influencing the lives of ordinary Nigerians, even in the face of persistent opposition from authorities.

The Afrobeats hitmaker, Davido, remarked on the strong wave of support shown for VeryDarkMan since his arrest, stating that the public’s appreciation for genuine efforts is motivating.

He wrote, “Outside all the noise it’s good to see that the good one does actually impacts lives and Pple actually appreciate! The support I’m seeing for VDM everywhere is encouraging.. makes one want to do more for the masses ❤️ FREE MY GUY.”

Similar to Davido, Nigerian singer and saxophonist Seun Kuti also spoke out about VeryDarkMan’s arrest, suggesting that the activist's troubles might be connected to his outspoken criticism of the Nigerian church. Seun shared that his perspective comes from a discussion with the TikToker's lawyer, Deji Adeyanju.

Additionally, Seun Kuti clarified that VeryDarkMan is being targeted by the Christian community in Nigeria due to his criticism of them.

According to him, the Federal Government may be running the country, but he believes that big pastors are the ones truly influencing Nigeria. He further stated that it is the people of God who are fighting VeryDarkMan for speaking the truth.
