Nigerian music superstar David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has expressed frustration over not receiving the recognition he believes he deserves for his contributions to the Nigerian music industry. Despite being a dominant force in the industry for the past 15 years, Davido feels that his efforts often go unacknowledged.

In a recent interview with popular content creator Egungun of Lagos, Davido opened up about his career and the challenges of not receiving enough credit. “I have been conquering the music industry for 15 years, but the crazy thing is that people don’t give me my flowers [credits] that I deserve,” Davido shared, reflecting on his extensive career and the obstacles he has faced in gaining widespread acknowledgment.

When asked by Egungun if he believes he has "haters," Davido responded with a confident tone, saying, “There are haters, but when I go everywhere, they love me, so I’m like, where are the haters?” This response underscored his belief that despite any negativity or criticism, his popularity and the love he receives from fans remain undeniable.

Despite his claims of being overlooked, Davido’s achievements continue to speak for themselves. He is widely regarded as one of Africa's most successful and awarded artists. At the recently concluded 17th edition of The Headies Awards in Lagos, Davido was honored with the prestigious Artist of the Year award, further cementing his influence on the African music scene. He was also recognized as the Digital Artist of the Year during the same event, showcasing his massive presence and influence in the digital space.

Davido’s latest remarks come as a reminder of the complexities faced by top-tier celebrities in the entertainment industry. While recognition is often expected, the journey to sustained success is not always without its challenges, including dealing with perceptions of underappreciation.
