Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed an unexpected passion outside music; journalism, thus stunning fans.

In a recent interview on Beat 96.1FM, the Afrobeats maestro spoke on the intensity of promoting his latest album. He then shared that he genuinely enjoys media rounds and having conversations, something many might not expect from someone at his level.

I've been doing crazy promo for my album – not easy. I don't have to do promo but I like it, I like conversing and all. A lot of people don't know that, aside from business management, I also studied marketing so I like to talk. If I had a podcast, I'd definitely talk for 3 or 4 days.

Davido shared that while not every artist thrives outside of music, for him, it’s a natural extension of his creativity.

“To me, being an artist goes beyond just music. I could talk endlessly, but some people don’t enjoy that. When people meet me, I like to have meaningful conversations and learn new things. I’m always seeking information. At home, I’m constantly researching—I watch the news every morning, usually CNN on the TV downstairs.

I’m a very curious and informed person, and if I weren’t fully focused on music, I’d probably be involved in something like journalism. I like keeping people updated on what I’m working on. Some ask why I have so many followers—it’s because I stay connected and consistently put in the work.”
