Afrobeats icon D’banj has confirmed plans for a collaborative tour with fellow music legends 2Baba and Timaya.

The singer made the announcement during a recent interview on Adesope Live in London, UK. Reflecting on the evolution of Afrobeats, D’banj expressed pride in the genre’s journey from a regional West African sound in the 2000s and 2010s to a global musical force.

He credited the success of Afrobeats not only to the hard work of artists and industry stakeholders but also to the unwavering support from the African diaspora.

“I was chatting with Timaya recently and he said, ‘Banger, it’s enough entrepreneurship for now, it’s time to hit the stage again.’ I agreed,” D’banj shared. “I also spoke with 2Face and he suggested we go on tour together.”

He continued, “With the combined catalogs of myself, 2Face, and Timaya, and considering how large and diverse our industry has become, there’s a wide market ready for this. So yes, a joint tour is happening.”

D’banj also revealed that he and 2Baba will soon release a new single titled “Feeling Good.” He hinted that the tour could be themed as a way to show appreciation to their fans: “It’s been 20 years, and I just want to thank everyone who has supported us.”

He reminisced about the early days of Afrobeats in the UK, saying, “There was a time when identifying as Nigerian here wasn’t embraced — many preferred to associate with Jamaica. But now, Afrobeats is the new pop, and it’s everywhere.”

He concluded by celebrating the growing influence of African music abroad: “Today, you can’t watch a UK film without hearing our sound. Kudos not just to the artists, but to the entire African community.”

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
