DELTA APC CONDEMNS ELECTION VIOLENCE, PROMISES ISSUE-BASED CAMPAIGN

The All Progressives Congress in Delta State has pledged to run a campaign focused on governance, policies and performance ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at a media briefing in Asaba on Monday, the chairman of the party’s Campaign Council Media Committee, Charles Aniagwu, said the APC would present its achievements and plans to voters rather than engage in personal attacks.

He also rejected electoral violence and threats, saying they had no place in the party’s campaign.

Aniagwu spoke in response to a question about comments attributed to former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege, the Nigeria Democratic Congress senatorial candidate for Delta Central.

During his campaign launch in Uvwie Local Government Area on Friday, Omo-Agege reportedly warned against election rigging, declaring that anyone who attempted it would die.

Reacting, Aniagwu urged political leaders to exercise restraint and avoid statements that could encourage violence.

He said anyone with concerns about electoral malpractice should report them to security agencies rather than take the law into their own hands.

“Delta State is not a jungle republic. We must not encourage jungle justice or violence, regardless of political affiliation,” he said.

Aniagwu maintained that the APC would not engage in electoral malpractice and asked voters to assess the party based on its performance and the evidence it presents.

His remarks placed peaceful campaigning and accountability at the centre of the party’s stated approach to the elections.
