A disturbing incident has rocked Enerhen, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, where a young man identified as Ifeanyi has been arrested for allegedly killing his father, Sunny, and stealing his money to throw a birthday party for his girlfriend.

According to reports, the tragic event happened on Thursday night when Ifeanyi allegedly attacked his father while he was asleep. He reportedly butchered him, inflicting severe injuries, including cutting off his hands, before carting away money his father had made from selling a piece of land.

Neighbours, alerted by the deceased’s cries for help, rushed in to find him lying in a pool of blood. He was quickly taken to the hospital but was unfortunately confirmed dead.

How He Was Caught

After the crime, Ifeanyi fled the family home and was later tracked down to a hotel on Sunday, where he was reportedly lodging with two girls. Investigations revealed that he had organised a lavish birthday party for his girlfriend with the stolen money.

Upon arrest, the suspect allegedly confessed that his cult group pressured him to kill his father.

The body of the late Sunny has since been deposited in the morgue, while police continue their investigations.

As of press time, Delta State Police PRO, SP Bright Edafe, had not responded to calls or text messages for confirmation of the incident.

This tragic case has left the community in shock, with many questioning how far young people are being pushed by peer influence, cultism, and reckless lifestyles.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
