DELTA PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR SCOUTS

The Delta State Government has pledged its support to the State Council of the Scout Association of Nigeria to strengthen its youth development programmes.

The Commissioner for Youth Development, Brave Enodeh, made the commitment during the 2026 Annual General Meeting of the Delta State Scout Council in Asaba.

Represented by the Director of Youth Mobilisation and Leadership in the ministry, Peace Okonye, the commissioner urged the association to expand its activities and meet international standards in youth development.

He noted that scouting should adapt to the demands of the digital age and provide young people with skills and opportunities that can prepare them for wider responsibilities.

The AGM brought together delegates from Scout associations across the 17 local government areas of the state, alongside other stakeholders.

The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools also commended the Scouts for promoting discipline, leadership, service and responsible citizenship among young people.

During the meeting, the Delta State Scout Council constituted a new caretaker committee to oversee its affairs for the next three years.

The committee is headed by Dr Hope George, while Olorogun Jaro Egbo was named Chairman of the Management Committee.

The state government said it remained committed to supporting initiatives that promote youth development and leadership across Delta State.
