DELTA STATE CELEBRATES FORMER GOVERNOR OKOWA AS HE TURNS 66
Delta State is celebrating one of its most respected leaders, former Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON, as he marks his 66th birthday. Okowa, who led Delta State from 2015 to 2023 and was also the PDP’s vice presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, turned 66 on July 8, 2025.
In a warm tribute posted on Facebook, the Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, described Okowa as an exceptional leader, mentor, and father figure who has been a source of unwavering support and inspiration to many, himself included.
“Happy Birthday to my wonderful leader and mentor!” Aniagwu wrote. “With a heart full of gratitude, I wish you a fantastic year ahead filled with happiness, fulfilment, and continued success. I remain grateful for the guidance and inspiration you have consistently provided to me.”
Aniagwu, who previously served as Chief Press Secretary and Commissioner for Information during Okowa’s administration, praised the former governor for his remarkable achievements in public service. He highlighted Okowa’s lasting impact on governance and leadership, as well as his humility, wisdom, and dedication to development — qualities that continue to inspire the younger generation in Delta and beyond.
“Thank you for being such a great leader and mentor. I truly appreciate everything I have learnt from you over the years,” Aniagwu added.
He concluded by hailing Okowa as “Ekwueme,” meaning “the one who speaks and stands by his word,” a title that underscores the deep respect and admiration many hold for the former governor.
As Delta State and its people celebrate Okowa at 66, it’s clear that his legacy of leadership, mentorship, and service continues to shine brightly.
