DESMOND ELLIOT APOLOGISES TO GBAJABIAMILA OVER APC PRIMARY DISPUTE
Lagos State lawmaker Desmond Elliot has apologised to the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, following a disagreement surrounding the All Progressives Congress primary election in Surulere. Elliot reportedly went down on his knees while offering the apology, bringing attention to the political dispute within the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
The incident followed tensions over the APC primary process in Surulere, where Elliot and other party members were involved in a disagreement over the outcome and conduct of the exercise. The dispute reportedly created friction between the lawmaker and Gbajabiamila, a major political figure in the constituency who previously represented Surulere in the House of Representatives for several years.
Elliot, who represents Surulere Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, acknowledged the disagreement and appealed for reconciliation. By kneeling before Gbajabiamila, the lawmaker sought to put the dispute behind them and restore their relationship, particularly as the APC prepares for another round of political contests.
The disagreement comes against the backdrop of growing political activity within the APC as politicians position themselves for the 2027 general elections. Surulere remains an important political constituency in Lagos, and the influence of prominent party leaders has made internal disputes over nominations and primary elections particularly significant.
The apology is expected to ease tensions between the two politicians and strengthen efforts to maintain unity within the party. With preparations for the 2027 elections already gaining momentum, party leaders and members are under increasing pressure to resolve internal disagreements and prevent them from affecting the APC's electoral plans in Lagos.
