Dr. Busola Tejumola Named Head Of General Entertainment At Multichoice Group
MultiChoice Group has announced the appointment of Dr. Busola Tejumola as its new Executive Head of General Entertainment Channels. This move underscores the company’s commitment to solidifying its leadership in African content across its DStv and GOtv platforms.
The announcement was made public through Tejumola’s LinkedIn page on Tuesday, marking a pivotal leadership shift within the pay-TV powerhouse that spans sub-Saharan Africa. In her new capacity, Dr. Tejumola will lead the charge in delivering localized entertainment — a domain she knows well. Before this role, she was Executive Head of Content and West Africa Channels, where she played a crucial part in shaping MultiChoice’s regional content direction.
About Dr. Busola Tejumola
Tejumola brings over a decade of experience at MultiChoice, having joined the company in 2012 as Consumer Insights Manager. In that role, she utilized audience data to inform strategic business decisions.
She later led the Strategy and Insights team and advanced to become General Manager of Production at Africa Magic, overseeing major productions like Big Brother Naija, Tinsel, Ajoche, and the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
Her promotion reflects MultiChoice’s strategic pivot toward audience-driven content rooted in African culture and storytelling.
“My focus has consistently been on ensuring MultiChoice Nigeria’s sustainability and profitability, with content at the heart of our strategy,” she shared on LinkedIn. “Meeting customer expectations through quality insights and deep local knowledge remains essential.” Dr. Tejumola has overseen key areas such as content planning, production, partnerships, and talent development. MultiChoice credits her for enriching the entertainment experience of its over 20 million subscribers through her dedication to African storytelling.
Academic Background
Dr. Tejumola earned her Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from Brunel University London, a master’s degree from the University of Surrey, and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Ibadan. She has also completed advanced executive training at Duke Corporate Education.
Her appointment comes at a time when MultiChoice is navigating intense competition from both global and local streaming services. By strengthening its leadership team with seasoned content experts, the company aims to stay relevant and deepen subscriber engagement.
As she steps into this new role, overseeing flagship channels including the Africa Magic bouquet, MultiChoice signals a renewed commitment to telling authentic African stories — by Africans, for Africans.
