The Duke of Shomolu Foundation UK (DOSF-UK) will honour energy expert and philanthropist Igho Sanomi at the London premiere of Kashimawo, a play that tells the story of Chief MKO Abiola, one of Nigeria’s most celebrated statesmen and philanthropists.

The award ceremony is scheduled for October 4th and 5th, 2025, at the Shaw Theatre in Euston, London. Sanomi will be recognised for his remarkable contributions to African theatre and his continued support for productions like Awo and now Kashimawo.

Beyond theatre, Sanomi has earned global recognition for his philanthropy. He has supported causes in cancer research, healthcare, and education, including significant backing for the Bobby Moore Fund in the UK, which has raised nearly £1 million through its “Dining with Stars” initiative. Through the Dickens Sanomi Foundation and the Global Initiative for Peace, Love and Care, he has also helped over 19 children receive life-saving surgeries in Nigeria and abroad.

Sanomi’s career spans oil, telecommunications, maritime, aviation, and real estate. His philanthropy and leadership have earned him numerous accolades, including the Martin Luther King Legacy Award and the Forbes Philanthropic Award.

Kashimawo marks the 60th major production by the Duke of Shomolu Foundation. Following rave reviews at the Ekiti International Theatre Festival, the play seeks to bridge generational divides, inspire patriotic values, and foster national unity.

The London premiere promises to be a landmark cultural event, celebrating both Nigerian theatre and individuals like Igho Sanomi who continue to champion its growth.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
