EARTHQUAKE TRIGGERS UNUSUAL WATERFALL IN CHINA
A dramatic incident unfolded in China’s Yunnan Province when a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck near Mandalay, Myanmar. The quake, which hit on Friday afternoon, generated tremors felt up to 760 kilometers away, causing chaos and prompting an unexpected waterfall from a high-rise rooftop pool in Yunnan.
As the earthquake sent shockwaves across the region, water from the rooftop pool of a luxury building cascaded down onto the street below, creating a sudden and hazardous waterfall. Viral footage captured the moment, showing pedestrians rushing to escape the torrent, but many were knocked off their feet as the heavy flow swept down.
In the aftermath, images revealed a chaotic scene on the street, with debris scattered and pedestrians in shock. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in Yunnan; however, the earthquake caused significant devastation in Myanmar, with the government confirming approximately 1,700 fatalities, 3,400 injuries, and around 300 individuals still unaccounted for.
The quake's impact was felt across neighboring countries, including Thailand and Vietnam, although no serious injuries were reported there. In Bangkok, a similar incident occurred when water overflowed from a rooftop pool at a five-star hotel.
Yunnan Province, known for its stunning landscapes and rich cultural history, has seen a surge in tourism following the success of the film "Meet Yourself," starring Liu Yifei and Li Xian, further highlighting the region's allure amid this natural disaster.
