EDNA IMADE ANNOUNCES SHE WILL NO LONGER REPRESENT NIGERIA
Bayern Munich loanee Edna Imade has officially decided to represent Spain at the international level, ruling out appearances for both Nigeria and Morocco.
The forward made her competitive debut for Spain in the first leg of the UEFA Women’s Nations League final on Friday.
Born in Morocco to a Nigerian mother, Imade was previously eligible to play for the Super Falcons. The Nigeria Football Federation had actively tried to persuade her to join the national team, and she had expressed willingness to represent Nigeria before Spain came calling.
Spain coach Sonia Bermúdez handed Imade her first call-up for the two-legged Nations League final against Germany. She entered the match in the 85th minute, replacing Esther Gonzalez, officially tying her international future to Spain.
As the UEFA Women’s Nations League is an official competition, the 25-year-old is now permanently committed to La Roja.
