EDO OFFICIALS SEIZE EXPIRED FOOD AND HOUSEHOLD PRODUCTS FROM BENIN SUPERMARKET
The Edo State Consumer Protection Committee has seized food and household products described as expired or fake from a supermarket on Mission Road in Benin City.
The inspection took place on Wednesday, November 4.
Committee Chairman Iyamu Osaro said the items were displayed on shelves for sale despite concerns about their condition.
Products seized included groundnut oil, biscuits, milk, wine, tomato paste, soap, bleach and disinfecting wipes.
Osaro said the committee ordered their removal and imposed a fine on the supermarket over the violations identified during the inspection.
The report did not disclose the supermarket’s name, the amount of the fine or its management’s response.
