EFCC ARRESTS CONVICTED FORMER POWER MINISTER MAMMAN
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission) has arrested former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, following his conviction over corruption-related charges in Nigeria.
According to the commission, Mamman was taken into custody to begin serving processes linked to his conviction, marking a fresh development in a long-running case involving alleged financial misconduct during his time in office.
The arrest comes after court proceedings in which the former minister was found guilty on charges connected to alleged diversion of public funds tied to power sector projects.
EFCC officials say the move is part of ongoing efforts to enforce judgments and ensure that individuals convicted of corruption face the full weight of the law.
Mamman, who served as Minister of Power under the previous administration, had been on trial for several years over allegations involving multi-million-naira contracts and project funds.
The case is one of several high-profile corruption trials involving former government officials in Nigeria’s power sector, which has long faced scrutiny over funding and infrastructure challenges.
Authorities say further legal steps will follow as the enforcement process continues.
