The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has cautioned content creators against using its name, logo, uniform, or likeness in skits and other media productions without official approval.

 

In a video message shared on Saturday via its official X page, the commission said it has not authorised any individual or group to use its identity for entertainment or promotional content.

 

According to the EFCC, many of the skits circulating online misrepresent its values and operational procedures.

 

It stated that such portrayals create public misunderstanding of how the agency functions and are not endorsed in any form.

 

The commission stressed that it does not sponsor, approve, or support any comedy, drama, or online content that features its identity without written permission.

 

It further directed the public to immediately stop using its name, logo, uniforms, or other identifying symbols in any production without prior authorisation.

 

The EFCC warned that anyone who violates the directive will face legal prosecution.

 

The agency said the warning became necessary due to increasing misuse of its identity in online content and rising cases of impersonation.

 

It also noted concerns over fake sting operations and fraudulent activities carried out by individuals posing as EFCC officials, which it says are damaging its public image.
