EGBIN POWER AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS TO STUDENTS IN HOST COMMUNITIES
Egbin Power has awarded scholarships to students from its host communities as part of its continued support for education and youth development.
The awards were presented during the 11th edition of the company’s annual scholarship ceremony held at the Egbin Power Clubhouse Auditorium in Ikorodu, Lagos.
Community leaders and students commended the company for sustaining the programme, which provides educational support to students living in communities hosting the power generation company.
The Odofin of Ijede, High Chief Babatunde Ogunmuyiwa, who represented the Alajede of Ijede Kingdom, Oba Adefarasin Hassan, praised Egbin Power for keeping the initiative running.
He said the scholarship had positively impacted many students and families while encouraging young people to work harder and pursue their ambitions.
Speaking on behalf of the six Community Liaison Officers representing the host communities, Wahab Bello also praised the company’s investment in education.
He said Egbin Power had shown commitment to the future of young people and the development of its host communities, urging the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity.
The Chief Executive Officer of Egbin Power, Mokhtar Bounour, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to education and creating opportunities for young people.
Bounour described education as an important tool for change, saying the scholarship programme represents a long-term investment in young people who would become future professionals, leaders and community builders.
The beneficiaries also expressed appreciation for the support. Royalty Olasunkanmi emerged as the top scholar in the Host Community Category, while Mercy was recognised as the top scholar in the Academic Excellence Award Category.
The company said the scholarship programme is part of its wider community development efforts, which also cover healthcare, youth empowerment and infrastructure.
