Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians to promote peaceful coexistence and support vulnerable members of society as Muslims celebrate Eid-el-Kabir on Wednesday.

In her Eid message to Muslim faithful across Nigeria and in the diaspora, the First Lady described the festival as a period for reflecting on the values of sacrifice, obedience, faith, and compassion.

She urged Nigerians to live together in peace and harmony, stressing that the country’s strength lies in unity, mutual respect, and a collective commitment to building a compassionate society.

According to her, citizens should use the occasion to demonstrate kindness and generosity by assisting those in need, particularly the less privileged and vulnerable.

Mrs Tinubu noted that acts of charity and support can help renew hope and provide comfort to many people during challenging times.

She also encouraged Nigerians to continue praying for the nation’s peace, stability, and prosperity.

The First Lady extended her Eid Mubarak greetings to Muslim faithful and wished them a peaceful and fulfilling celebration.

Eid-el-Kabir, also known as Eid al-Adha, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God before a ram was provided as a substitute.

The festival is traditionally marked by prayers, animal sacrifice, and the sharing of meat with family members, neighbours, and the less privileged.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
