EID-EL-KABIR: FRSC DEPLOYS 950 PERSONNEL ACROSS KWARA FOR SPECIAL PATROL
The Federal Road Safety Corps has deployed 950 officers, marshals, special marshals, and first responders across Kwara State ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations to enhance road safety and ensure smooth traffic flow.
The deployment forms part of a special patrol operation scheduled to run from May 25 to May 31, 2026.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the Command’s spokesperson, Olayinka Basambo, the operation includes 16 patrol vehicles, four ambulances, and a 70-tonne tow truck strategically positioned across the state.
Basambo said the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kabiru Kazeem, directed the deployment of personnel to major highways, cities, and traffic-prone locations within Ilorin and other parts of Kwara.
He explained that the exercise aims to reduce road crashes, improve traffic management, provide prompt rescue services, and ensure quick clearance of road obstructions during the festive period.
The command will also intensify public awareness campaigns in motor parks, markets, religious centres, and other public places to educate road users on safe driving practices.
Kazeem warned motorists to comply with traffic regulations, noting that enforcement would be intensified on major routes across the state.
He listed offences targeted during the operation to include speeding, dangerous driving, wrongful overtaking, overloading, use of mobile phones while driving, tyre violations, route violations, lane indiscipline, seatbelt violations, and carrying passengers alongside goods.
According to him, the operation is designed not only to enforce traffic laws but also to safeguard lives and property throughout the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
The FRSC boss added that ambulances and a heavy-duty tow truck have been deployed to guarantee swift emergency response and rapid removal of broken-down vehicles from highways.
He further disclosed that marshals have been stationed at strategic locations to monitor traffic situations and respond promptly to emergencies.
Kazeem urged road users to drive responsibly and obey all safety regulations, stressing that “only the living celebrate.”
