The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed a total of 600 personnel in Niger State and 581 personnel in Jigawa State as part of special operations to ensure safe and hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
In Niger State, Sector Commander A’ishat Sa’adu announced in Minna that the deployment, which began on Monday, May 25, covers major highways across the state.
She said the command also mobilised 12 patrol vehicles, one tow truck, and three ambulances to support emergency response, traffic control, and rescue operations during the festive period.
According to her, the operation is aimed at ensuring free flow of traffic, reducing road crashes, and enhancing the safety of road users before, during, and after the celebration.
Sa’adu urged motorists to obey traffic rules, avoid speeding, and desist from driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
In Jigawa State, FRSC spokesman Yahaya Ibrahim said the command deployed 581 personnel, including 461 regular officers and 120 special marshals, alongside eight patrol vehicles and four ambulances.
He explained that the operation, which runs from May 25 to May 31, is designed to manage increased vehicular movement and prevent road crashes during the Eid period.
Ibrahim added that the corps would intensify enforcement of traffic regulations, including mobile court operations targeting offences such as speeding, overloading, dangerous driving, phone use while driving, and route violations.
The FRSC reiterated its commitment to ensuring road safety, smooth traffic flow, and protection of lives and property throughout the festive season.
