EID-EL-KABIR: KWARA NSCDC DEPLOYS 2,480 OPERATIVES
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has deployed 2,480 operatives across the 16 local government areas of the state to ensure adequate security and peaceful celebrations during the Eid-el-Kabir festivities.
According to a statement issued in Ilorin on Monday by the command’s spokesperson, Ayoola Michael, the deployment was approved by the State Commandant, Abbas Mohammed, as part of intensified measures to safeguard lives, property, and critical national assets before, during, and after the celebration.
Michael said the operation was intelligence-driven, with personnel strategically stationed at Eid prayer grounds, recreational centres, major public spaces, and other sensitive locations across the state.
The commandant explained that the deployment covers specialised tactical units of the corps, including the Armed Squad, Operation Harmony, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Anti-Vandal Unit, and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives Unit.
He added that Area Commanders and Divisional Officers have been directed to intensify surveillance, maintain round-the-clock patrols, and ensure swift response to any emerging security threats within their areas of responsibility.
Mohammed said the command would work closely with sister security agencies, community leaders, and vigilante groups to maintain law and order throughout the festive period.
He urged residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious movements, and celebrate responsibly, while embracing the spirit of unity and tolerance that Eid-el-Kabir represents.
The command warned that it would not hesitate to deal decisively with individuals or groups attempting to disrupt public peace, assuring residents of a safe and secure environment throughout the celebrations.
