In preparation for the upcoming Eid el-Kabir celebration, the Lagos State Police Command has implemented a comprehensive security strategy to ensure a peaceful and incident-free festive period across the state.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh.
According to the statement, CP Jimoh has directed the immediate deployment of both conventional and tactical units across Lagos to deter and address any potential criminal threats during the festivities.
“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has ordered the deployment of conventional police officers, the Rapid Response Squad, the Eko Strike Force, and other tactical units of the Nigeria Police Force to all strategic locations across the state,” the statement read in part.
It further noted that anti-crime teams have been stationed at known black spots, criminal hideouts, and other high-risk areas to boost public confidence, dispel fear, and ensure public safety throughout the Eid period.
To further enhance coverage, CP Jimoh has also mobilized elite officers from specialized units, including the Police Mobile Force, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Special Protection Unit, Intelligence Department, and Anti-Bomb Squad. These teams will patrol key areas using Armoured Personnel Carriers and other security vehicles, focusing on Eid prayer grounds, mosques, celebration venues, and recreational centers.
The police command assured residents that critical public areas would receive heightened security, emphasizing crowd control, traffic coordination, and the free flow of movement.
“Enhanced security will be provided at recreational centres and other expected gathering spots. These areas will be closely monitored to ensure orderliness and safety,” the statement added.
Reiterating the command's commitment to public safety, the statement emphasized that maintaining order throughout the celebration remains a top priority. It noted that the Lagos Police Command will collaborate with other security
