In anticipation of the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebration, Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has approved the early disbursement of June salaries to all civil servants across the state, starting Monday.

This directive, confirmed in a statement released by the Governor’s Press Secretary, Malam Abubakar Bawa, covers employees at both state and local government levels, including personnel of the Local Government Education Authority and retirees. This marks the third instance under Governor Aliyu’s leadership that salaries are being released ahead of schedule to ease the financial burden on workers during festive seasons.

Currently on pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, the governor noted that the early payment is aimed at helping civil servants make adequate preparations for the Sallah festivities, including the purchase of sacrificial animals.

“As the saying goes, ‘to whom much is given, much is expected.’ I urge all civil servants to remain committed and dedicated in their duties,” he said.

Governor Aliyu also highlighted his administration’s efforts to support the workforce, including regular salary payments, reinstatement of cash allocations to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), distribution of Sallah packages, and the settlement of pending pensions and gratuities.

He encouraged public servants to reflect these gestures through greater dedication, punctuality, and productivity at work.

Reaffirming his government’s commitment to strengthening the civil service as a foundation for improved governance, Aliyu assured citizens that his administration will continue to deliver impactful projects and services across the state.

He concluded by extending warm wishes to the people of Sokoto for a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
