EKITI MAN ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY BEATING WIFE TO DEATH OVER LATE ARRIVAL TO FARM
Tragedy struck in Efon Alaaye, Ekiti State, as police confirmed the arrest of a man accused of beating his wife to death.
According to residents, the couple—both farmers—had gone to work on their farmland. The man, angered by his wife’s late arrival, allegedly beat her mercilessly on the farm, ignoring her cries for mercy. Witnesses said she sustained several bruises and was left in severe pain.
Moments later, the husband reportedly ordered her to fetch water from a nearby stream. Sadly, she collapsed by the stream and died, unable to withstand the injuries and weakness from the assault.
Spokesperson of the Ekiti State Police Command, SP Sunday Abutu, confirmed the incident, stating that the suspect has been taken into custody. He assured that the accused would be charged in court once the investigations are completed.
The shocking incident has thrown the community into mourning and sparked renewed calls for an end to domestic violence, urging authorities to strengthen awareness and protection for vulnerable women.
