EKITI PARTNERS ONELIFE INITIATIVE TO EXPAND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTHCARE ACCESS

The Ekiti State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding access to comprehensive reproductive health services for women and girls across the state

The Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Oyebanji Filani, said the continuous training of healthcare workers was essential to improving health outcomes and achieving Universal Health Coverage. He spoke through the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Olusola Gbenga-Igotun, at the closing ceremony of a five-day training programme organised in partnership with Onelife Initiative in Ado Ekiti on Monday.

Filani said the partnership was aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery and ensuring women had access to accurate information and quality reproductive health services. He added that the government was committed to preventing complications and deaths arising from avoidable reproductive health challenges.

The Director of Public Health, Dr Abayomi Ibrahim, said doctors, nurses and pharmacists from different levels of healthcare delivery participated in the training and were exposed to updated methods, tools and medicines for reproductive health services.

The Executive Director of Onelife Initiative, Sola Fagorusi, commended the state government for its support and pledged continued collaboration to expand the programme across the 16 local government areas. He said the training would improve healthcare providers’ skills and counselling techniques while contributing to efforts to reduce maternal deaths linked to unsafe abortions.
